Abi turned to face him and listened, a little dumbstruck. Back home, she had tried for weeks to get him to take his medication again in a steady way. Some days she succeeded but lately more often than not, she had been rebuffed.
Tears were swelling in her eyes as she nodded, letting them crest and fall down her cheeks. "I miss you so much," she whispered so she didn't wake Charlie. "I know it's not going to mean much but when you get to that point in your future, I hope you'll remember that. I miss you."
