Whatever she had been going to say next, this definitely hadn't featured in his mental montage of horrible possibilities. In fact, he'd never even heard of such a disorder... he was trying to listen, to really listen, but he suddenly felt like he'd been dunked into deep water. There was so much to take in he didn't even know where to begin processing any of it.
Whatever it was, he'd scared her, and that was something he hated to hear. He'd have been mad with himself if he'd hurt her emotionally - if he'd been a selfish bastard, if he'd had an affair - but he would at least expect such shitty behaviour from himself. But to have actually scared her into leaving? It was too far. She could hate everything about him, but it shouldn't have got to that point.
