Cristiano had a sort of dislocated sense of matrimony from the Goggs. The Promising Ring he had given Juliet meant something very deep and powerful, and perhaps due to his own familiar shortcomings in this world and not his own it had not occurred to him to include her family. He had never wanted a Promising with anyone else, after all, so his mistakes were not made purposefully to exclude Juliet's family.
It was also not always so easy for him to talk to them or reach out. He hated that dang device that beeped and talked at him at all hours from Goggs he didn't know sounding incredibly angry or in pain. Today, he did not even have it on him. He wore a belt with a hunting knife and a small bag of coins for trade, which was all for his ensemble save for his matching ring to Juliet's and a necklace with a whistle on it. Over the last few days he had started to leave clothes in the little room of the pool, various nice shirts and vests, which he suddenly wished he were wearing before his love's mother.
"I came to see if she was here," he said in reply with a smile. "I guess she is with friends." A hand ran over his wet hair to push it from his face as he bobbed at the surface just high enough his shoulders could crest the water once in a while.
