Who? Bond & Isa
Where? Mitchell's
When? Some afternoon...
What? Daddy-daughter meeting
Open? To Kyt or Mitchell
Rating? Low - maybe language

Bond was in his usual position, propping up the bar with a whisky in front of him. He'd really been keeping mostly to himself since all of the island madness at Christmas. No matter how long he had been on the island, it was something he found difficult to process. Logic didn't come in to it, and it was often enough to make an average human from an average reality question their sanity.

So, to Mitchell's, turning to drink. It was his usual go-to when things weren't going well, even back in his own time.

She had found herself a place in the apartments. It was empty. No personality and with only the basic of things added by her. It was hard to tolerate but where else was she supposed to go? She had seen people arriving, she had seen so many people who had gotten tossed back in time and they had always made it seem easy. But it wasn't. Some of the people might still be here but this wasn't her life. Not that she necessarily wanted to go back to it. Her mother was here. But was it really her mother? Tommy didn't even remember her. Tommy! And neither would her family.

What she needed was booze. It eased everything. Thoughts were easier and so was sleep. She swung open the door to the pub. While Mitchell in her time, would refuse to serve her anything but light alcohol and that only in small amounts, this one did not know her real age and she would be damned to give it to him. From now on, she would be 18, no, 19 - less suspicious: everyone who lied about their age would say 18. Pretending to be of age would lead to a lot less questions.

She slid onto one of the bar chairs and started shaking out the snow of her blond mane and woolen scarf. It was good to be inside. "Hey, can I have a screwdriver?" she asked.

Mitchell quirked an eyebrow from behind the bar. "You old enough, kid?"

"Yeah, 19," she said. There was the lie as easy and casual as anything.

"Kay," the vampire said and started his job. "Anything for you, Bond?" Isa froze. At first, she felt talked to. She felt exposed. He sometimes called her that too. But that wasn't it. His gaze did not go into her direction, it landed on the person next to her. She turned her head to the side and there he sat. Through all the snow and hair, she hadn't recognised him. He was younger but so much the same that it was slightly disturbing. Isa couldn't help but gape at him.

Bond only gave her a casual glance at first; an automatic reaction to someone new entering the premises. Partly training, mostly just human nature. A young woman, pretty, vaguely familiar but he wasn't sure why. Perhaps someone returning, perhaps the sister of someone he already knew - it didn't hold interest for too long.

"Sure, I'll take another," he responded to Mitchell's question casually, emptying his glass. Then there were eyes burning into him; he knew the feeling of being watched. And he turned, meeting her gaze and giving her a look of curiosity. The name, maybe? She'd seen the movies? He'd dealt with that one a few times. "Afternoon..." he greeted her, with a slightly amused smirk.

"Hey," she said as she watched Mitchell work. Isa did not really want to face her father and wished that the vampire would just speak up so she had an excuse not to talk. "How are you?" she added awkwardly. She brushed her long strands behind her ears and glanced at the man next to her.

There was something off about the way she was talking to him, but the actual words were perfectly normal, so it was all throwing him slightly.

"Very well, thank you," he responded, just giving the typically polite response rather than getting into why someone would be drinking along in the middle of the day - not that she would be one to talk. "How are you?"

"Quite all right," she said quietly. Images roared through her head. She needed to just spit it out and get it over with. Kytana - her mum! - had taken it well. It wasn't quite the same. It was awkward and familiar. "I - uhm... you are... what's life for you like here?" She could have hit herself over that ridiculous construct of a sentence. Coward! She brushed her hair back. Correct yourself, get it over with.

She took a sip.

She remained silent.

What an odd creature she was. He wasn't entirely certain what was getting her so tongue-tied, there was a strange awkwardness between them that he was sure he couldn't have caused just by being there.

"Well, it fluctuates wildly. Sometimes it is extremely dull, other times you cant catch a break," he shrugged. "Are you a new arrival?"

She bit her lip and shook her head. "Yes and no. I am one of these kids from the future." She paused for a flicker of a second and then put all her courage into the next sentence. "Actually, I'm yours." There. She had done it. It did nothing to relieve the tension. She was deadly determined not to look at him.

"Ah, I see," he nodded, happy with the first half of the explanation. That explained why she seemed new but not-quite-new, and possibly why she looked vaguely familiar as well.

But the next part threw him. "You're my what?" he asked, but his brain caught up almost as soon as the words were out his mouth. Oh, shit-

"You're joking..." he said, although he had the distinct feeling that she wasn't.

Isa almost had to chuckle at his response. The feeling was confusing but it had been so expected. She had seen other people react to news like this and they immediately jumped into friendly chatter but not her father. Had her father done it, she would have thought him an alien, an impostor. No, this was very familiar.

This time she looked at him. "Why would I do that?" She snorted a laugh. "There are easier people to convince."

Bond was trained to be suspicious, and this island didn't exactly make paranoia any easier. But there was something about her - a familiarity, something in her tone and expression...

Still, he frowned, his mind working overtime to try and figure out the situation. "True..." he admitted. "Who is your mother?"

"Kytana," she said quietly before she noticed that the information provided wasn't enough. "Rogers." Her heart made a leap as she realised once again that her mother was very much alive. She remembered her smile. A hiccup of emotions almost escaped but she caught herself, found her composure. "You were never really together though. Not for long at least."

There was a definite flicker of thoughts rushing across his expression as she said the name. It was believable. It was possible, and now he was doing some quick maths in his head to figure out if- no, no, there was no way she was pregnant already. It had been over six months, she would definitely be showing, or have said- wouldn't she? He realised that he'd just been looking perplexed for a while. He should say something. Acknowledge it in some way.

"Right - eh - sorry, what was your name?" he asked, finally managing to form words again.

She waited silently sipping on her drink. The conversation had barely started and it was already half-empty. "Isa... Isa Bond," she said. The pause was too long to be a perfect mimicry of her father's catch-phrase and it certainly was not a conscious one. Her eyes flickered to him and back to the drink.

"You made the bargain that mum could pick the first name and I would carry your family name." Unimportant information to fill the silence. Waiting was a draining exercise.
