Once they were in the elevator, the doors dinged and they went back down to the baby's floor. She didn't know the building exactly but she counted the floors as they rushed past, just in case.
"Everybody says they never expect to have a family. I physically cannot, but eliminating the physical does not eliminate the emotional need. They worked hard to remove it from me, but I guess they couldn't wipe it out of me completely. Instead, they just took my memories." she said, walking out as the doors opened again. "She is lucky she doesn't have pain in her life. And never will experience it," she turned and glared at the mother, as if threatening. "She will never be alone again, yes?"
