The evergreens had always soothed her fiery mind, even in the worst throes of her telepathy. It had taken her decades to learn how to control it in the best way possible and even longer to understand why and how she was what she was. The magic inside her veins was tied to her being, to her soul and her bloodline. Sook knew little about her heritage but she knew she was only part human. The powers, she'd had to work those out on her own and they hadn't manifested in any visual way until she was into her 20s.
Dipping her feet into the crystal stream, she looked up at the stars and thought of her family: her dead grandmother, dead parents, lost brother. She only had her daughter and her new baby in this world now and she was determined that they would never feel a day of fear for what they were like she had felt.
The lights twinkled in her vision, blonde hair always looking more golden in that light. That was until she felt some presence around her. It wasn't any human mind, that was for sure, and Sook was immediately on edge.
Hello? she thought aloud, trying to gauge who it was.
