"But isn't one of them around as an adult?" she asked. Maybe she had just misunderstood it. Peggy's next statement made her laugh. "So how much did you change?" Frankly, being in the opposite position was just as terrifying. As a child you took your parents for granted - of course, they built their lives around you. For the first couple of years in your life you were the center of the universe after all. But as an adult who stumbled in on someone and changed their lives around, it was scary. It gave you power. It gave you power over someone you cared about. It meant that the things you did could be important to them as well. You had to keep yourself safe not only for your own sake but for your family's too. Thor had Sif, his friends but her father only had her. She had never realized the responsibility she cared to that extend. One more reason to keep up with the training.
She shook her head to focus on Peggy's next word. "Yeah, they misinterpret my intentions and instead of clarifying, they just attack," she muttered and felt like a pouty child. She shook her head and her voice grew stronger. "Doesn't matter. Let's try this instead."
Katherine swallowed her emotions and lifted the gun. She felt the itch of a non-perfect stance. The bullet hit the ear. "No," she told herself, dropped it and closed her eye for a second. Breath. One. Two. Keep your focus. She opened her eyes again and lifted the gun and shot. Nose. Chin. Heart. The last one turned Peggy's shot into an eight shaped hole.
