Virginia had only recently heard of the new invention, telegraph, as she'd seen men mounting wires for the new project in the city nearest her home, but she knew very little else about it. Her answer was a vague confirmation in the form of a small smile and a nod that was mostly a blink.
"Haven't the faintest idea," she told him honestly. She had no friends or family to expect here, but she didn't know enough about the rest of the island residents to assume. "I'd offer to help track your company, but there's been nothing but you to track." In the meantime, she continued to stroke the horse's blaze and neck- the animal still obviously uncomfortable with it's sudden strange surroundings, even though it's master still anchored the reins.
"Look for their names on this list." She offered the phone again. "Mine appeared without me having done anything to cause it- my guess is you'll find yours as well."
