Vegas was awesome. Adele could have spent every day driving around in tanks and shooting machine guns with her Dad, but she knew he and her Mom deserved some couple time too. And, as a bonus, it would give her the chance to do some exploring on her own. She had chosen her dress, styled her hair and makeup, and done everything else she could to give herself the best chance at sneaking into the casino without being carded. All her thoughts were centred on looking and acting older as she walked through the door to Vegas that night. Without knowing it, she had cast an illusion. She was still the same teenage Adele, but she would appear as an older version of herself to anyone that saw her that night.
Adele ventured into the casino easily, pleasantly surprised no one reacted to her young age. She wandered around, having a difficult time deciding which game to try first. Slots were boring, poker wasn't a game for a beginner, maybe blackjack was a good place to start, oh my God I've lost so much Celeste's going to divorce me . Adele stopped walking instantly and frowned deeply. That thought didn't belong in her head. She hadn't lost any money and didn't know a Celeste. It had been a long time she since had picked up on another person's thoughts unintentionally. More thoughts began slipping in from all directions. Excitement over a good hand, anger over a suspected cheater, a 'strategy' for picking the best slot machine, and so on. Each voice seemed louder than the last until it seemed like hundreds of voices screaming in her mind. Her heart began to beat more rapidly and she started to tremble. She leaned on a nearby wall and looked around for anyone that could help her. Maybe if she got out of the casino, the voices would stop.
