Sarah did smile at the sight of her son, behaving like a gentleman. She just liked that she maybe had brought him up the right way, to respect people no matter who they were; unless they were rude or disrespectful in return. She stole a glance at his home again, trying to take in his life.
"Oh, yes, thank you darling," she kissed his cheek as she handed him the bakery box. It'd take a lot for any woman to think another was worthy of her son's attention. Particularly when she was used to seeing her little one hurt by mean spirited children. All she wanted was the best.
"How are you? I brought Steve a present..." she wondered why he'd not come to the door himself, out of the edge of her mind.
