Tom was happy how the day had turned out. It was beautiful, romantic and special. Nowadays, special was easy to achieve when it was just the two of them. The mere fact that no crying babies were there to rip them apart was sufficient.
The weight of the ring in his pocket was something he had a hard time to ignore and the fancy restaurant was something he still needed to get used to. All in all, he had a hard time staying in the present and just enjoying the company of this beautiful woman. His thoughts lapsed back from possible developments of the night. "Uhm, sorry. What did you say?" he asked embarrassed. The last plates had just been taken away and they were almost ready to head out. He had wanted to ask her in the restaurant but somehow talked himself out of it. Outside, fresh air, that was better, right?
