Sister Mary Frances knelt in the church, rosary held tight in her hands as she went through her prayers. She prayed for the young children in the orphanage, for the members of the church, for the fathers and the other sisters. As she always did. She never prayed for herself. Always thinking of others, as was her duty. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly before opening her eyes. They darted around as she wasn't in the chapel anymore. The church was in ruins around her. How had it happened? How could she have been completely ignorant to it. She closed her eyes again and did the sign of the cross, praying more. For the first time since taking her vows, Mary Frances prayed for herself. Prayed for guidance and understanding of her situation. She opened her eyes again and looked toward the sky where the ceiling should have been. "Heavenly Father, please deliver me from this." She clutched her rosary so tight her knuckles were white. |
