Dean felt guilty, guilty that he had not only put Mary through his death, but obviously Claire too. Isabel, Rory... He wasn't sure who else it bothered. He wasn't sure if anyone else really mattered. That seemed harsh, sure other people mattered, but right then they were the key ones that did. He made his way into the room where she bed down, settling into the one next to hers. A couple bottles of water under each arm. He wouldn't wake her. He'd spent days like that, working off sorrow and pain without sleep. Without anything but the blood building up under his nails. After all, how many times had Sam been there and vanished? Died? He was pretty sure he had to go through the same thing she obviously did every time. Until Mary had come along. Claire didn't have Mary. She had Rory, and no doubt he hadn't been all that helpful. He knew the boy had a temper, and no doubt he was rushing through it still. Rory may not have been blood, but he was definitely his son. And then there was Claire. He didn't know much about her. There wasn't a whole lot he remembered about her as a kid either. But he'd definitely enjoyed that she was here. And he couldn't help but feel guilty by putting her here. So he sat and waited. Relaxing as best he could against the head of the bed. Just watching her breathe. |
