Laura had been camped outside the hangar door since she'd taken Jake in. She didn't trust anyone else to keep him safe, and keep others safe at the same time. And she wouldn't risk someone as important to her as Jake was to anyone else.
She also knew that no one else on the island could match her senses. So when she heard the boys voice through the solid steel alloy door, she lept to her feet and began typing her code into the door to unlock it. Once the safety locks had been overridden the doors on both ends rose with a hiss.
When his scent hit her, she knew what had happened. "Jake Sully?" It wasn't truly a question, but she didn't want to alarm him anymore than he already was.
