One thing was for sure. This was not the A41 back to London and it was equally unlikely that this was a boringly British countryside. What he could see out of the windows of his car was not the endless ongoing green he had had the displeasure of rushing by for the last hour. He was surrounded by a broken and empty city. Masses of books lining the streets that would have made the angel envious.
Another thing on the other hand was for sure. If this had been planned by his boss, he had once again proven his poor personnel skills. No one had informed him of this. No memo stating that another Antichrist was walking the earth or that they had always fancied trying out Counter Strike.1 with the whole of London.
As if an empty city wasn't odd enough, someone had decided decided to place a tank into the middle of the street. A tank with a man inside and a woman in front of it. Crowley pressed his foot down on the break and the Bentley decreased its speed in a manner that would make any car mechanic ponder. He wound down the window as the car came to a full stop next to the two. "Hey chaps! Rather odd day today, isn't it? Any idea where we are?" he asked, ignoring the state of distress the woman seemed to be in.
1 Crowley had devoted quite a bit of his time building up the computer games industry and strengthen the connection young people had to guns and violence.
