There was further consideration before Thor replied. "There had been, long ago, a great battle in which a deadly force was used. It was known as Aether and we had thought it was safely away from those that would use it. I had not been to Midgard in some time, then. It seemed that Jane, while working, found a way to this plane where the Aether was stored. Unknowing. This normally would not happen, of course, however, there was the Convergence that brought our Nine Realms together...enabling her to travel realms mistakenly. I went to Midgard to retrieve Jane when informed she had gone from Heimdall's sight; something was wrong. When I found her she had been infected by the Aether and so I had brought her back to Asgard to be treated."
Thor's greatest struggle in the retelling of the story was perhaps discussing Jane in general. He had paused at her name, not sure how to describe her now that he was not with her. Again. It was difficult on him to have once more been ripped from her grasp, but he kept that to himself. His new-found family need not know his own struggle.
