Q likes science. He has always been a big fan of science, though his mind is technically more technical than scientific, he still knows the ins and outs of most scientific theories and processes because science makes the world go round and technology has to adapt to it.
He's on the beach looking up at the sky because he finds it fascinating how the sky can be half night and half day. How the stars are always there but the sunlight blocks them out until it goes away and then BAM. Stars. And they're brilliantly clear here. They're not as much in London with the smog and the lights. And looking at one layer another opens beyond, and then another beyond that- way back into the endless universe.
He doesn't humour people who kill the moments by telling him the stars are dead already. Well, everyone dies eventually, should we not appreciate them still? People still read Shakespeare, still accepted the scientific breakthroughs of the last century when their creators were long dead. Apparently only the living could be appreciated- Stupid ignorance.
He watches the sky, anyway. Recognises the constellations which makes him think they might be somewhere in the Northern Hemisphere, but then again the weather is so changeable in extremes it's almost not like anywhere in the northern half of the world-
