Jo blushed brilliantly, when he presented her with the beautiful flowers. "I can't say that I've ever..." Been called pretty? Been given flowers? She could say neither without inviting pity, and she hardly wanted that. So instead she sighed softly, the sweet feminine one of vast appreciation of the act. "Thank you."
Selecting two of the flowers, she broke one stem off short, and slipped it through one of the button holes at the top of her dress. She did the same, though not as short to the other. Stepping up to him she eased the stem into his shirt pocket. "Now we are a pair." She offered him a smile, cradling the rest of the flowers in the crook of her arm, while pulling her coat a little tighter around her.
