The movement caused agonizing pain in Abigail's back and the fog was talking in her father's voice again. He was telling her to give up. It would make the pain go away. Make it all go away. Her eyes rolled back into her head as the darkness took over. And suddenly she could breathe again. She opened her eyes slowly to see Jake; his hands were on her neck but he wasn't like her father. He didn't want her to die. She tried to thank him but her throat was so sore. She managed a very small smile instead.
