They had just finished breakfast and James sent the twins into the living room to play. He smiled as he listened to them while he cleaned up. They had their own secret language that they used to communicate and that would quite often result in giggles. He still wasn't sure how he'd managed to tame the god in him, but he was very glad that he did. He was in the middle of drying a plate when the blackness took over and he passed out, the plate shattering when it hit the ground. The twins stopped at the sound of the thud and the breaking glass. Gen looked at Nick in confusion and then the two started into the kitchen. "Winso?" Gen asked. Nick was a little ahead of her so he saw him first. "Winso! Mommy! Winso hurt!" He wasn't sure how far away his Mommy was but he knew that she could hear him. She could always hear him. They both moved over to see if he was okay and Gen started to cry. She'd stepped on a piece of glass. The crying stopped, though, when the shimmery cloud appeared and both children just stared as it went up and then went away. "Winso?" Nick shook the man as best he could, trying to get him to wake up. James groaned and put a hand to his forehead before he opened his eyes. His head was definitely pounding, but that was pushed aside when his eyes focused on the twins. He could see the tears running down Gen's cheeks. "Gen?" He sat up and she pointed to her foot. "Winso.....I get bleed." She sniffled. James noticed a couple of drops of blood on the floor and then nodded, getting to his feet. "Nick, you stay exactly where you are, okay?" The little boy nodded and James scooped up Gen, taking her over to one of the chairs in the kitchen. "I need to go rescue your brother." He touched her cheek gently and she nodded. James made his way back over carefully to pick up Nick, making sure that he didn't get hurt as well. He carried him into the other room and then grabbed the first aid kit quickly before heading back into the kitchen. "I need to get the glass out and then we can bandage you up, okay?" He knelt down in front of Gen. She wiped at her eyes and sniffled, then nodded. "Kay." Nick came back into the kitchen carrying a teddy bear and held it out for Gen who took it and hugged it tight. James couldn't help but smile at that gesture. Nick knew exactly what his sister needed. "Nick, I need you to go into the other room so you don't get hurt, too." He smiled and Nick nodded, doing as he was told. It didn't take long for the small piece of glass to be removed and the tiny cut to be cleaned and bandaged. He then picked up Gen and carried her and the bear into the living room. "I need you to stay off of your foot for a little while, okay? Can you do that for me?" He asked as he set her on the couch. Gen hugged the teddy bear a little more and nodded. "Thank you." He kissed her forehead and then went into the kitchen to clean up the glass. As he swept, he was very thankful that things hadn't been worse, because they certainly could have been. |
