Ever since Tyr had moved in, Jake had been followed by all kinds of flying things. Birds mainly, which Banshee was pleased about since it meant he could eat them whenever he wanted, and some of the bigger bugs when he went into the forest, although they tended to stay a good bit back from him. Then there were the things he wasn't too sure about, but then, he didn't know the half of what lived in the forest yet, so a few unknown creatures didn't bother him. He just tended to nod at them and send them on their way.
As a result of this, Banshee seemed to have a friend. A kinda annoying friend, true, but friends were friends. One of the birds, a big black one that seemed just as noisy as Banshee at times, had taken to teasing the ikran after a week or so, poking at his tail and then flying off before getting caught and eaten. Then it decided they could share food and started dropping what looked like little rats in front of Banshee. Jake obviously couldn't make tsaheylu with him since he wasn't Na'vi and couldn't use the Avatar, but Banshee's confusion had been more than strong enough to be picked up on through the faint echo they still had. Now they were down near the treeline, sharing one of Banshee's kills, although the bird still couldn't get too close without risking becoming a meal as well.
Jake sat at the window in the living room, watching the two of them as the bird bounced back and forth while Banshee let it steal bits of meat. Gwen was curled up in his lap, purring softly, and Humungousaur was playing with something in the corner of his room. And then the bird flew off, yelling down at Banshee who obviously wanted to play. The rest of his kill was gulped down before the ikran took to the skies as well, chasing after the bird. And Jake? He was stuck where he sat, with shit legs that didn't work any more, and wheels that didn't do off-road. Jake was avoiding him, Aaron was still being weird, Tommy was avoiding everyone that wasn't Izzy or the babies, even Taronyu didn't come near him. He was fed up with telling himself that he'd be Na'vi again soon and this body didn't matter as much any more. He just wanted to go for a walk in the forest, but that wasn't going to happen in the near future, was it?
Reversing from the window, Gwen miaowed a little bit and dug her claws into his legs before jumping down and heading for the couch, but he just spun the chair round and headed for the kitchen. He'd get some coffee and then work out what he was going to do.
Or he would, if there were any mugs sitting out on the counter that he could reach.
