Who: Magius and Justine
Where: Wandering
What: A conversation and magic
When: Evening
Warnings/Rating: PG-13
Exploring this new island was an interesting adventure. Somehow, it all felt rather interesting. Today, Magius had decided to change things up some. With an effort of will, he had cast the shapeshift spell, and had taken on a female form.
Wandering in a bikini and a wrap, he was curious to see what wonders would present themselves.
Justine was made for wearing bathing suits on the beach. Slender, and shapely, she had worked hard to get back into shape after the incident that had turned her long hair prematurely white, and she wasn’t shy about showing off the result of her efforts. Of course, she knew that Thomas didn’t really like to share, so she tried not to dress too provocatively. But if she happened to catch anyone’s interest, who knew?
Maybe she would find a new consort to help her manage her and Thomas’...condition.
Magius spotted Justine as he walked, and his heart pounded, then he smiled. He raised one slender arm to wave, remembering the form he was in. “Milady Justine! How fare you this day?” How much would it take for her to realize it was him in this body? He wa curious now.
Or would she simply ask?
She paused, her brow creasing slightly as she tried to place the face. “Magius?” They had only spoken a few times since her arrival on the island, and sadly, she did not recall their time together on the train. But who else called her ‘milady’?
Magius bowed to her, eyes aglint. “Indeed, and well done, milady.” He smiled as he moved toward her.
“I sometimes wander while altering my form, for the heck of it, or merely to allow myself to breathe freely in this new world. It is refreshing to walk in another’s feet sometimes.”
Justine smiled, laughing at his odd manner of speech. Milady, and for the heck of it. Not expressions one would expect to come from the same mouth. “Well,” she said, “You’ve certainly done well. How are you?”
Magius moved to her, close but a step out and bowed to her, a wavering thing of grace. “Thank you. I am well. Curious about this world, but well.” He grinned wider cheeks tinting red.
“And you, how are you?”
“As well as can be expected, I suppose,” she said, gracefully inclining her head.
“Is there anything I can do to help?” He reached out a hand to her, offering his. He was full figured, and no slender woman.
“I am at your service.”
She put her hand in his, letting her gaze linger long enough to show appreciation for his work on the transformation. Perhaps it was the White Court protocol seeping through, but it seemed only polite to take notice when someone had made a successful effort to look their best. It was also nice to be on a somewhat more level playing field. Not to be a predator, exactly, but at least not to be the prey.
“We’re just having a hard time adjusting, is all. If it was just Thomas and I...I don’t care so much about the changing scenery so long as he is there. But he is very worried for his sister.” She sighed. “He doesn’t really like me to discuss family matters with anyone outside the family, but it’s been stressful, to say the least..”
Magius blushed at first and grinned, enjoying the admiration, and then nodded. He had patterned the body he wore after one he had seen in the red sector or Palanthas. He squeezed her hand and then let go.
“I’m sorry. Family can never be easy, my own was a strange one, and I never found peace after I Ieft it.” He smiled softly at her, eyes warm. He nodded. “If I can help you, with her or anything, let me know.”
She smiled, wrapping her arms around herself, and gazing off across the beach. Such a beautiful location, but filled with so much confusion. “I don’t know if there is anything that can help her so much as time. And patience. And support. She puts so much pressure on herself.”
Magius nodded. “I hope things get better for her” He watched her. “And how do you relax and let down your tension?” He moved near. “What pressures do you put on yourself?”
“Too much,” she said, running a hand through her hair. “I meditate, and exercise, and back home I had a friend that I would get together with for girls’ days out--or in. But here...and even in Atlanta...I haven’t really had the chance to become close with anyone in that way. I just spend as much time with Thomas as I can, and hope that I don’t end up burning him because of...things.”
“Can I help somehow? Even if I am not the one who can be a release of stress, perhaps I can help you.” he paused, then smiled softly. “Will you sit, and trust me?”
He gestured toward the pool chair. His eyes burned with golden light.
“Yes,” she said, after a moment’s consideration. She’d been mulling over that very question--will you trust me?--since Magius had introduced himself. She hoped her instinct would not lead her astray.
She sat, and looked up at him expectantly. She wondered what it was, exactly, that he planned to do.
He gently took her hands and concentrated. Warmth flowed from him, and memory. Their night in the pool room, and his room after. The release, the relaxation, the warmth, the friendship born there. He sent his relaxation to her, and hope, and simple joy. Pleasure and life.
She held his hands gently, relaxing into the touch. After so long being unable to have that contact with Thomas, she had come to crave it from anyone, which meant she’d had to be careful. She’d been safe from the White Court, and she’d found a dear friend in Mara, who’d been able to offer her the physical comfort she’d needed. It had grown, organically.
Holding Magius’ hands, as his magic flowed over her, through her, felt similar. As she welcomed it, and the memories that came with it, she could feel the heat of their connection, building in her core. There was a moment where it became almost overwhelming, and then it broke over her like a wave of tenderness.
“Oh...”
Magius gently held her hands and then slowly withdrew them, letting her relax from the sensations and memories. He hoped he had not overstepped, and that she would welcome his gift. He had become very fond of that other Justine and he found, as he looked at her, that it would be too easy to become fond of this one.
He smiled softly.
“Oh, that’s perfect,” she murmured, leaning over to kiss his cheek as she finished the thought. It was a small gesture, compared to what he had shown her, but it was the least that she could to to return the gift. Perhaps even this simple exchange was intimate and personal enough to allow her to continue to give Thomas the intimacy that he needed. But even if it was not, she was glad that Magius had shared those memories with her.
“Thank you for showing me these things.”
Magius blushed and smiled softly at her.
“You are welcome. I want to help how I can. And you are someone I trust, whether you know me or not.” He nodded. He could tell she would not betray him.
