James had woken up early and decided to get the kids their breakfast. He managed to get Nick to eat some cereal rather than the peanut butter he always requested. It was just Cheerios dry in a bowl with milk to drink but both kids seemed to enjoy it. After breakfast, he got them cleaned up. "Winso! Play!" Gen grabbed his hand and started to pull him toward the living room. "Park!" Nick giggled and followed suit, grabbing James' other hand as the two pulled him along. "Alright, we can go to the park but we have to get dressed first." He smiled. The three were still in their pajamas after all. "Park!" The twins said in unison and started toward their room to get ready. James went to his room and changed into some cargo shorts and a t-shirt. It was starting to get warm outside and even though he'd rather have covered up his left arm, he knew it would get too warm too quick if he did. Once he was ready to go, he headed into the twins' room to help them get ready. "Ball!" Nick giggled again, going over to the toy box and digging out his favorite ball. They would definitely need something to do at the park and the ball seemed the perfect choice. "Alright, are we ready to go?" James asked, looking at the twins. "Um...." Gen tapped her chin with one finger which made James smile. It was rather adorable. "Hat!" She said, then went to the closet. It was on the top shelf but that didn't stop her from standing on her tip toes and trying to reach it. Rather than getting the hat for her, James lifted her up so that she could reach it herself. "Tank you, Winso." She smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Nick, I think you need a hat too." James said with a nod as he grabbed the little boy's baseball cap from the same shelf. He put it on Nick's head and chuckled when the boy rearranged it. "Now park!" Nick insisted, grabbing onto James' hand once again and pulling him toward the door. "Alright, alright. Slow down. The park isn't going anywhere." He smiled and followed the children out of the apartment, though he did stop to grab some bottles of water for them on the way out. About halfway to the park the twins stopped and looked up at him, both smiling. "Arm, Winso! Arm!" They both reached up and James sighed, but with a smile on his face. "You two..." He chuckled and took the ball from Nick before holding out his left arm. The twins both grabbed on and he lifted his arm, carrying them along. The children giggled as they dangled and the weight was really nothing to the metal arm. He did enjoy hearing them laugh so he didn't mind indulging them from time to time. When they got to the park, he set them down and then rolled the ball out into the grass. Nick went chasing after it and Gen looked up at James. "Kick." She said and then went running after the ball. She whispered something to Nick and the boy nodded, then the ball came rolling back toward James. He knew exactly what she meant then and kicked the ball back toward them. |
