The hurt was only a numb memory anymore. Ty barely noticed the heat. The cold that ran through his veins quenched it. It dug deeper. Whenever he was with Eva, the cold in his body grew intense. The hated cold was replaced with an icey burning.
He p up the branding iron and turned around to his wife, only that there was no Eva anymore. The room around him had changed. That wasn’t his house. “Eva?” he called out. He had no idea what was going on, only that it smelled like some kind of god crap.

“Holy shit!” Max jumped. She’d been woken by the sound of someone shouting and got up quickly, grabbing the big knife she kept beside the bed. Old habits died hard, but she was glad Dean wasn’t there, because the guy would have a fist in his face by now

Ty was taken aback when the strange woman entered. The knife in her hand immediately caught his attention. He dropped the branding iron and held his hands to the side, signalling her that he meant no harm. “I - hi."

“You...I know you...I’ve seen a picture...but besides that what the fuck are you doing in my apartment?” Max snapped

"I - you - what?" Ty summoned up intelligently. "Where have you seen a picture of me?" Was this Colin's work?

“Anders had one.” Max muttered. “I saw it when I went in to feed the fish.”
-0-0-0-
“Anders?" His brother's name was said with half a sigh. It shouldn't come with too much of a surprise considering there was a beautiful woman standing in front of it. Then again his brother was currently in Norway and wasn't known to do this! And wasn't Dawn looking after his place? His eyes fell on the knife again. "Look, I'm really not gonna hurt you. I'm - actually I'm quite surprised to be here myself."

“I know what you’re thinking...and no, the dude’s a dick, but he’s also my friend.” Max replied, not putting the knife down. “You have a name or what?”
-0-0-0-
Anders having a female friend? That came as a surprise. “ Yes, sorry. I'm Ty. I'm Anders' brother."

“Hey, I’m Max...his friend and fish feeder, welcome to the island.” Max replied, putting the knife down.

What Max said was inconsistent with his knowledge. Everything just didn't fit. “Dawn is looking after his apartment." He shook his head. There were other things that needed to be done first. Who knew what Eva was doing right now after he had suddenly disappeared. “Uhm, could I use your phone? It's lovely to meet you but I need to get home."
-0-0-0-
“Dawn’s not here, I think I’m the replacement...and sorry but you’re not getting home, none of us are.” Max tossed him her phone. “You’ll get your own soon enough...Anders is near the top of my list, we talk quite a bit.

Ty caught the phone. Replacement for Dawn? Had he let her go? And then she was telling him that he couldn't go home. "Why?" He asked blinking in confusion. "Where am I exactly?" He still held onto the phone tightly but showed no inclination to make a call.

“Welcome to Neverland dude, all you can eat or drink, keep your hands and arms inside the ride, no leaving unless you disappear or die.” Max replied.

Ty stared shortly at her. She sounded madder than his wife. "What do you mean? Where is here?"
-0-0-0-
“No one knows, that’s why they call it Neverland.” Max replied. “You want a coffee seeing as you’re here and everything.” She’d got far too acclimatised to weird shit.

“ Yeah, that would be great," Ty mumbled. Now he glanced down at the phone and switched it on.
-0-0-0-
“You take it like your brother does?” Max asked, turning away from him to make the coffee.
-0-0-0-
“ Ye" he muttered with a hinge of bitterness to keep it simple. I wasn't as if he tasted anything. His eyes scanned over the display while his fingers tried to find a way to get to the contacts.

“Want me to do that?” Max asked, as she glanced at him fiddling with the phone, the uncharacteristic selfie of her and Dean on the front screen.

The moment Max offered her help, he had found what he had been looking for. "Thank you. I just found it. I'll..." he said, nodding towards a corner. He didn't know how much she knew about their family history. He stepped away from the main area and selected Anders' name.

Max leaned against the counter, sipping her coffee, praying Dean didn’t decide to be cute and bring her breakfast.

When Ty hung up, he didn’t feel anymore reassured. Nothing surprising after a conversation with his bullshit talking brother. He stopped towards Max, holding out her phone for her. “Thank you,” he said. “You don’t have a shirt that would fit me by any chance. A bloke’s shirt, I mean.”

“Some of my boyfriend’s stuff is here.” Max replied, moving back to her bedroom and emerging a moment later with one of Dean’s shirts.

Ty took hold of the shirt. “Thank you, you are my lifesaver. I’ll return it as quickly as possible.” He put on the shirt and took the coffee she had made for him. “And thank you again. Could you point me into the direction of the pub?”

“Gimmie five minutes, I’ll walk you over, Slutbags owes me a drink anyway.” Max replied.

Ty's eyebrows raised a bit at the way she was calling her brother. She certainly wasn't one of his bimbos. “ Yeah, sounds great."

“He’ll need you, since Olaf went.” Max replied. “He pretends he’s all good, but...”
-0-0-0-
“What do you mean with Olaf went?” Ty asked confused. He didn't like the notion the words held.
-0-0-0-
“People appear, just like you did, they disappear just as fast. He’s being all bitter and grumpy and pretending he’s OK, but he isn’t.” Max replied
-0-0-0-
“So Olaf has been here," Ty noted. Anders hadn't said a word. ” Where do people disappear to?"
-0-0-0-
“I wish anyone knew.” Max replied. “We’ve lost good people. I liked Olaf.”

“Uhm, you have really no idea what’s going on here?” Ty asked. His grandpa was a good person. He was a member of his family. A place that made members of his family vanish for some unknown reason was not a place Ty wanted to live in.

“People have tried to figure it out, but no one has so far, it sucks ass, but the more you prod at it the worse it seems to get.” Max replied. “I think they go home, rather than dying or whatever.”
-0-0-0-
“They go home?” Ty asked. Now that sounded more comforting. “How do you reckon?”
-0-0-0-
“I dunno...sad panda me’s married to a science dude, he’d be a better bet.” Max replied.
-0-0-0-
“What?” Ty asked. “There is another you?”
-0-0-0-
“A girl that looks just like me...Darcy.” Max replied.
-0-0-0-
“But you are not twins, are you?” Ty asked in another attempt to make sense of all of this.”How about we keep going?” Anders was probably already waiting for him, not that he had such a big problem to keep his brother waiting but he avoided when he could.
-0-0-0-
“No we’re not.” Max called as she ducked away to dress. “You’ll see that a lot, you get used to it. It’s become same shit different day really...try not to worry about it too much, safest way to live here.”
-0-0-0-
Ty’s eyebrows raised and his face showed his doubt. “I’m not very good that, I have to admit. But I will try.” He had raised his voice for her to hear him and then settled for the rest of his coffee.

Max appeared a few minutes later, a smile on her ruby red lips. “Shall we then?”
-0-0-0-
“Yes,” Ty said. “That is a very beautiful dress, by the way.”
-0-0-0-
“Yeah, yeah...it’s not hard to be more charming than him.” Max teased Ty, moving out of the apartment. “If we hurry he might not even have started drinking....Oh and by the way, my boyfriend really wants to punch your brother in the dick, time isn’t helping much with that.”
-0-0-0-
Ty nodded, following her. “There’s usually a line of people wanting to do that,” he said. Often enough he was in that line, even though he would let no real harm come to his brother.

Max moved out of the house, leading the way to Mitchell’s. “I can clear out and let you two do the sibling thing if you want?”
-0-0-0-
“I -” He didn’t want to feel like she was unwanted but it would make the talking easier. “Actually, if you wouldn’t mind? We’ve got a lot to talk about.”
-0-0-0-
“It’s OK, tell him Tits said hi and that he’s a miserable bastard.” Max replied.
-0-0-0-
“I will gladly pass that on," Ty said with a smile.
