Aaron wasn't a guy to fuck about with things. More often than not, he knew what he wanted and set about getting it the quickest way possible; which usually involved guns and threats and escape routes on top of buildings. But with Marta, he had had no idea what he wanted or even how to figure out how to get it. She deserved better than him but Aaron couldn't let her go either so he had resolved to be a better person for her sake, be the man that she deserved so he could sleep better at night and will the faces of his past away.
He dreamt of her more often than not. Of saving her from a burning building or just holding her hand before going hunting with Jake and Laura, sometimes even dreaming of her in a princess white dress and a smile on her face. That was his dream and he had to man up, get some balls and ask her in the right way to be his wife.
All of Saturday, Aaron had been working in their back yard whilst she was busy. He had planted her favourite flowers in the beds, trimmed the lawn to a perfect green blanket and had set candles up the flagstone path he had laid a month ago. All the candles were lit as the sun started to set and a circular table of old oak was at the end of the garden with even more candles to keep her warm. On the table was a bottle of champagne on ice waiting to be cracked open next to a speaker set with his iPod docked in.
The ring was hidden safely in his top pocket, and Aaron waited for her to come back to the note he'd left on the front door asking her to follow the candle path and find him waiting for her.
