He squeezed her hand back and nodded. "Yeah she was."
He smiled to her softly and cleared their plates away to the sink, bringing over his cutting board and veggies instead, piling them up on the table along with a few bowls for the cut ones and one big one to put all of the peels and skins in. He'd let her help but there was no way he was making her stand up to do it.
"I got some bones from Maryanne, she wasn't sure what exactly they were each from any more but that's sort of how it always was, I took whatever the butcher could give up. But they're over in the pot stewing then once they're pretty well done and the broth tastes like more than water I start adding the veggies, hard stuff like carrots first." he told her, pointing out the bunch of them on the table. "And the lighter stuff like corn and peas go in last." he added, pausing for a second before he blushed lightly, "But I bet you already know that."
