She couldn't remember having been this happy before, or at least it had been a long time. Sook was on her own again since Hannibal had gone back to the island and left Sookie to her own devices back in the sunshine. It was like being here, back home where she belonged, recharged her happiness levels again. Nothing felt bad when she was sleeping in her own bed at night or talking to her Gran in the morning, helping out Sam during the day at Merlotte's. It was like nothing had ever happened to change and she hoped it never did.
Sook was baking on the front lawn in her white bikini dotted with red cherries and jean shorts. The sun was strong enough to taint her skin with gold and make her feel human again. She did miss her bakery but was happy with Cleo looking after it and trusted her to keep it running like Sook would but there was something addictive about the atmosphere in Louisiana. It was her home, her heart and soul would belong here even if she never got to see it again.
She sat up on the lawn and sipped her ice cold lemonade, watching the house across the field for people from the island wandering through.
