Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Left resting gently upon the living room sofa in the wee hours of the morning just before Luna had returned to bed to wish Clint a Happy Hearts & Hooves Day were two boxes. The first of which was very long but not incredibly wide, wrapped in a plum colored paper with a lilac ribbon and bow around it, while the second was small and square at only 7" on any side. The larger box was for Clint, his name written in a careful and beautiful scrawl on a card that stood open atop the present.

To my love,

By the time you see this and your gift, I have already wished you a wonderful day and a Happy Hearts & Hooves, however I must tell you that there are more surprises for you. I will rest and then attend the wedding of your friends, then after that there is a surprise. You'll have to come and find me, though I'm sure it will not be so hard.

In the case I have not told you enough I must tell you again that you have and seem to easily continue to make me the happiest mare in the world. I hope I can always live up to the woman you know me as and the human woman I wish to be for you. To do so I am going to do something now that I should have from the start, though it may only seem minor it feels great in my heart. I do not wish to leave you alone so often in the day and see you so little at night. I think you will be seeing more of me, to which I hope you are pleased.

Make sure to bring your gift with you when you come out to find me. I'll be waiting!

I love you,
Luna

Opening the box would reveal a long and beautiful bow that seemed to be of some strange make and model not natural to the world Clint was from. One might call it elvish. Perhaps Luna had found it in her castle, which as she had come to find out as of late, belonged once to a clan of elves. Alongside the bow were several arrows all lined up and neat, perfectly spaced, and a single slip of parchment which read in Luna's gentle script, "Aim for the stars."

Atop the second box was a tiny card, baby sized, which was simple in note but no less heartfelt than the first. Truth be told, considering Clint was likely to read it anyway, some of it may have been for him as well.

My darling Charlie,

I hope we may keep this card in one day hopes of it being a sign of how long I have known you and fallen in love with you. You are a beautiful and bright little boy, one who fills my waking hours with joy and light. I am lucky to have met you and your father as the two of you are wonderful men.

I know I am not your real mother by birth, though I find myself while planning this note unto you rather wishing I could have been. I hope one day you consider me your family as I have come to call you and your father mine. This is a strange world my little Charlie Barton. I will protect you.

Love always,
Luna

Inside the box was wrapped a precious little brown bear made of terrycloth, a reddish-pink bow with one velvety side around his neck. He had embroidered eyes of black and a nose in pink, big ears and a tiny nub for a tail. Carefully folded beneath the bear was a baby's blanket in dark blue with white polka-dots, that upon closer inspection were in truth constellations. A small slip of paper read, and was perhaps another note for Clint as well, "Let the stars light your way."
