Quinn didn't mind Christmas but he hadn't been in a proper mood for it in years - especially after his grandparents died. However, this year was a little different and he wanted it to be a good year, for Cleo. He sighed softly. He had been trying to think of something to get Cleo since Christmas was first mentioned but he was still struggling. He hoped the morning swim would clear his mind.
He waded into the water, his body tingling with the energy that rushed through it as he allowed the element in. This time of year back home, in Cornwall, the water would be ice cold and Quinn would (probably, unless there were some nutty surfers about) be the only one out in it. Sometimes the cold water was welcoming, even if it didn't affect him, he could still feel it.
As usual, he wore a t-shirt and shorts for swimming and once he was a good distance out from the beach he let himself completely relax. He swam for a while, feeling all the tension of the past months leave him as the calm of the waves washed through him. Then, after a while, he let himself sink beneath the surface and stayed there. It never occurred to him to consider that other people would be around who would see.
