Who? Jay Gatsby & OPEN Where? The Townhouse When? Wednesday, late afternoon/evening. What? Happy Hanukkah! Open? Yes, to anyone in the townhouse, or coming to celebrate. Rating? Low
It had taken Jay a long time to really understand that on this island, he was not alone after all. He was not an outsider, he didn't have to hide who he really was. He could be a respected gentleman, and a Jew. He could be a poor boy, and a good person. He could be seen for his personality and not his social standing. And it was- overwhelming.
Especially when Ramses had so graciously suggested that they could mark the beginning of Hanukkah in the townhouse, and it wasn't even a hardship to him. It wasn't in any way unagreeable, apparently. Of course. He knew Ramses- he considered himself very lucky to be on the island, in fact. He would have a lot to be thankful for tomorrow, but for today- it was a different holiday.
He had already procured a Menorah through the generosity of the island, and candles were not difficult to come by. He had made good use of the bakery to provide food for the guests. Everything was fine-
And yet, he felt oddly nervous and jittery. He wished he had something else to organise, but instead he found himself fidgeting awkwardly, trying to get over the need to always have everything be perfect.
