Re: Richie/Rachel - after the wedding
It took a little while, the Battle of Burning Plains ringing in his ears, before he realised that Rachel had fallen asleep. He blinked a few times, then rubbed his eyes, looking around him to bring him back to where he was now.
Yes, we are back on the Island.
Wow, yeah, alright, got that now, thanks.
That battle with your Brother still weighs heavily on you.
Yeah, well, you know, you were there.
It is past now.
I know, but how differently would things have been if only I'd been able to get him to change his Ancient name.
You don't know if that would have been better, or worse. Galbatorix caused him to be Dark. His choice in the end is what matters, and that was because of the sacrifice you made.
But he had it in him, because he showed us mercy that time on Burning Plains, and then paid dearly for it.
You cannot carry that burden, and none knew Galbatorix held all the Eldunarà that he did.
I guess. At least he told us why Galbatorix wanted you alive. [soft] And I'm sorry about that question you were asked tonight, about having your own babies. Rae didn't know.
[sad] Yes, I know...
Richie sighed and let his head fall back, staring up at the ceiling, his eyes changing to a bright blue as he looked to see where Saphira was. He could see the lake, as if he was up in her weyr on the wall, the moon reflecting off the waters' surface.
