Rachel took a deep breath and let it out slowly again. She took his hand in hers and laced their fingers together, running her thumb along his finger as she started talking.
"We were friends. Best friends. We...went to New York to look for my dad. And I wanted to take a break so we didn't get burned out. We went and saw Wicked." She cleared her throat. "It made me a little sad because of that song I'm Not That Girl. Kind of hit closer to home than I'd like." She sighed. "Had a wonderful dinner after. It was....a great night. We got back to the hotel and I went to my room and you went to your room." She shrugged. She kept her eyes on their hands.
"We talked about everything, though. Anything and everything. Even stuff I can't tell Sarah, I talked about with you. Timmy isn't that open or willing to listen. Especially when it comes to the hard stuff. That's one of the reasons I like you so much. You'll talk about anything. Even if it hurts." She finally looked up at him. "Nothing is off limits for us when we talk."
