Busted. Meg blinked for a moment at him, wondering how it was that he could ask her that question. How could he know she was anything other than a plain old, run of the mill human? She shook herself mentally to discharge the line of questioning. She didn’t have time for that. If he could see her, then he might not be human himself, and that could spell trouble for her. Trust her luck to lead her to the first random person she’d seen in days and have it be someone who might have a chance at hurting her. She was batting 0 for 1,000 these days. First her own double, then a half angel, now this. Great. Just fucking great. Still, damage control was always an option
Laughing lightly, sounding almost surprised, Meg stretched her hands to the side in an “isn’t it obvious?” sort of gesture.
“I’m a demon,” she said, as though it were the most natural thing in the world and not something she would have thought of as a big deal. She even let her eyes slide to black, as clear an outward indication of what she was she could easily give. “Why, what are you?” she added, sounding genuinely amused. She had no intention of letting on that her being a demon had in any way been a secret, merely something she hadn’t felt was worth sharing. She reached for the flask and took a small swig, making quite a show of being unconcerned at his scrutiny.
