As Quinn sat there, staring out at the water, he moved one of his hands to rest on the sand at the side of him. Each time a wave broke and rolled over the beach, he felt the element spark under his skin as the water touched it. He closed his eyes for a moment savouring the feeling. Water didn't warm him like Earth energy did but it calmed and made him feel alive, so that was one thing. It was his element after all.
He didn't notice the arrival of the woman at first until he felt her standing near him. He started at that, not liking that someone had walked right up to him without him realising. Quinn knew it was partially to do with the blurred lines but he probably wasn't paying all that much attention because he was worried about Cleo.
Quinn's eyes slowly opened as she sat down and he shot her a side-glance, an eyebrow raising as she spoke. "Maybe. But then that would take away the peace and quiet," he replied, glancing down at his wet shoes and jeans before his gaze returned to the water. If this was the beach back home, in Cornwall, there would have been at least a couple of surfers around by now.
