"Your scans have showed some swelling and damage to the cerebral motor strip, that controls the language center of your brain." he held up a scan to the light and pointed to the signs of swelling with his pen. "There's a build up of pressure around it from the swelling. It means a course of steroids injected straight into your spine, that's the quickest route to relieve the swelling but it can be risky too. What I want to do is give you IV steroids and put you into a neck brace so that your brain isn't being jostled. When the swelling goes down, you'll be able to speak properly again."
