Re: Howard/Sookie
Howard shook his head, about to tell Sookie it was no burden and he hoped he wasn't a stranger when she started to talk again. His mouth slammed shut instead, and he frowned, the misery in the young woman's words and voice making him a little uncomfortable, but as a Stark, he hid that well.
"While I can't say I've ever woken up feeling that," he told her, a hand resting on her shoulder, "I've just been learning how much a few people would have liked to wake up and not have to have me around," he told her. While he knew that here in this place he was able to take a different path, he couldn't deny that back in the world they had come from he was headed down a different path, and that still continued to niggle at the back of his mind from time to time. A certain look in Maria's eyes, or a twist of Tony's mouth would remind him of what they had experienced at his hands.
"And don't let yourself ever think you wouldn't be missed here, Sookie. In just the short time I've been here, and the very few people I've met, I can tell you there are quite a few who would be missing you if you were to not be here."
