Sookie swept up as the start of her day came. She had to come in before dawn to replenish her stock after the birthday parties and people going to Coney Island through the door. She'd wanted to go herself but the prospect of going alone didn't really appeal. She was lonely and it wasn't like her to be without someone around her wantin' advice or a place to crash. Since Bill had left her and she'd come here, Sook had been waiting on trouble to come catch her up but she weren't a whore for danger. She guessed she just expected more from her life than baking. It was hard, watching normal couples being happy together. Even the ones going through hard times stuck together through real love. Annie and Mitchell, Tom and Izzy, Peggy and Steve, Steven and Lillian... everybody had someone and while Jensen was a nice guy, Sookie knew he wasn't the right man for her.
Her arms ached as she kneaded the bread dough by hand for Isabel's sandwiches, the place dead as it always was at that time of the night. Still, she liked watching the sun rise and feeling human once again. Then Peggy would come take over so Sook could sleep, and then the cycle would start again. She wanted more. She wanted... someone. Not even for love. Just someone.
