If ever there was a moment that he couldn't possibly love her more, it was right then. He felt weak and pathetic and like she could do so much better but there she was, holding him and loving him and telling him everything would be okay.
The tears kept falling as he held onto her. Just letting it all out. He hadn't cried like this since his mother died. Not really anyway. He just needed to let everything go. He knew that his tears were probably soaking through her shirt and she didn't seem to care about that either.
