Sookie hadn’t been on the island long but she’d heard plenty of thoughts along the way. Maybe the island had messed with her telepathic abilities but her defences seemed weaker against the onslaught of thoughts. Most were innocent and normal as she’d seen while others had reduced her to tears, some to laughter. She tried hard to keep them at bay but they were so strong. She’d never been able to say why they happened, but her Gran had always told her that God had a plan for everything and nothing was done without reason. Maybe she was put here for a reason too, if only the reason had something to do with the kind of geeky looking guy wandering around her quiet sanctuary.
He was tall, broad, sure but wasn’t like any guy she’d seen. Glasses and beard, dude? Double-u tee eff. She was wearing one of her favourite sundresses in the warm sunshine when he came closer to her hiding spot and she fiddled nervously. “You lost?” she asked as he came within earshot, “I can’t help you, I’m just curious.”
