Who: Izzy Shaw and Open
Where: Her workshop (Sirius's old garage)
What: Cleaning up and clearing out
When: Tuesday afternoon 16 July
Rating: TBD, likely low
Open: Yes
Status: In progress, threaded

Izzy wiped her forehead with the back of her glove and then dropped it to her hips with its counterpart as she surveyed her handiwork. What had once had been a service station filled with dust, grime, and cobwebs was now sparkling with cleanliness. It had taken her all day but through plenty of cleaning products, a lot of elbow grease, and a little magic, she had the building looking as good as the day it opened.

If a bit empty. She'd moved everything that had been inside to the short driveway between the building and the street to better get the structure clean and repaired. Some of the tools might be useful and the toolchests certainly would, but she wasn't so sure about the rest of it.

First though, it was time for something cold to drink and take a break. She sat down on an office swivel chair and reached into her cooler for a coke.

Jessica had been growing incredibly bored in her room. She decided to get out once the storm had stopped and investigate. She had never seen such bad weather before. She was surprised, but she was glad she had at least been safe inside while it had been going on. Jessica was a California girl, she was used to being by the water. She wasn't sure that she would puck being here over Sweet Valley, but at least it was water, which was what she was used to.

She wondered past a garage, and saw a woman there inside. She wondered what she was doing. Jessica stood and watched her for a second, before she just headed up the driveway to ask. Elizabeth was always saying curiosity killed the cat. She just couldn't help herself.

"Hello?"

Izzy glanced over in mid guzzle, a bit surprised to see someone come investigate what was going on already. She figured with as few people were on the island it would take another couple days for anyone to notice the difference.

Also she didn't look her best for meeting random new people, what with working out in the heat of the day moving objects about and then cleaning. Her blonde locks were tucked under a red kerchief and the shorts and tanktop she had on were smeared with dust from where she'd brushed up against things. But that had never stopped her from being friendly, and you never knew when a random encounter might lead to a future customer.

"Hi there." She stood up from the chair and smiled over at the other woman, reaching for a shop rag to make sure her hands were clean before offering a shake.

Jessica shook her hand, she felt very at home with her, she was wearing shorts and a tank top too. She ran her hands through her long blonde hair. She didn't know what the other girl was doing, but it seemed pretty complicated. She wasn't really familiar with work and cleaning though, she didn't do a lot of it. She had done chores when she was in school, but that was just to get money for things to do.

"I'm Jessica." She said, nodding. "It's nice to meet you." Jessica smiled at her. "I was just glad to get out of my room, it was so boring there. And it finally stopped storming!" She said, grinning. Jessica wasn't sure that she was really aware of how bad the storms had been, but she was glad that they were over.

Jessica was glad that she was blonde. She liked other blonde girls. She got along with them better. "So, what have you got going on here?"

"Izzy. Pleased to meet you Jessica." Now that she was closer Izzy could see the other blonde was still a teenager, college aged maybe. Of course her own body wasn't much older given the strangeness she'd already gone through before arriving, but her mind was closing in on thirty.

The comment about the storm didn't impact her as much as it could have. She hadn't been around the island that long, and most of that time was lost to her anyway. But even she knew many people had disappeared, so she was a little confused to hear it brought up in casual conversation. "It was a bad storm the other night, that's sure. But it's a beautiful day today, if a bit hot."

Izzy glanced back at the old service station, now sparkly clean in the late afternoon sun. "I've been cleaning the place out. I'm gonna turn it into my workshop."

Jessica smiled. "I like the heat, I was born in Sweet Valley, California." She replied, shrugging. "I was practically raised on the beach, and we had a pool in the backyard. So I was always in the water. It's nice to be on an island, because at least I am used to beach weather."

It was quite another to be so far away from her sister. Jessica had never been so far away from her before. They had always traveled together. They'd even gone to France to be au pairs for the summer together when they were in high school. "I was supposed to be on my way to the Sweet Valley Shore to be a lifeguard with my twin sister and our friends. We go to college at Sweet Valley University."

She realized that she didn't really go there anymore, though, since she was here. Who knew how long she was going to be here? Jessica supposed that she could get used to it, but she was going to miss Elizabeth. They had never been apart this long. She just hoped that Lizzie wasn't getting any twin sense that she wasn't okay, because she physically was.

"I grew up in Atlanta, or 'Hotlanta' as we called it back home." Izzy smiled and shrugged. "It was a good three hours to the nearest beach for me, had to make do with the local community pool. Not as nice as the beach but we loved it."

She listened to Jessica talk about her friends and nodded. Did the girl ever travel outside of Sweet Valley in her life? It was likely unfair of Izzy to make the assumption based on a two minute conversation but she couldn't help it. Still Jessica seemed to have a sweet personality and that made up for a lot. "I graduated from Georgia tech myself, what were you studying at Sweet Valley U?"

It was bound to be a surprise, but then Izzy still barely knew anything about Jessica yet.

Jessica said, "I want to be an actress or a model." She couldn't help smiling when she said that. It was true. Jessica's best friend was Lila Fowler, and she had always had a lot of money, since her father was one of the richest in California. She had always wanted a life like Lila's. Not that her life was bad in comparison, it wasn't, but it was still something that she admired.

"I'm just studying my generals right now, and of course taking drama classes. I'm in a sorority, too." Jessica said knowledgeably. She had been one in high school too, their high school had been one of the few to have a sorority. She had always taken her duties as a sorority sister and officer seriously. She had managed to get her sister to join when they were in high school, but college had been a no go. It was okay with her, though, it was something that made her different than Elizabeth. Not that they really had identity crises, they were too different for that.

She looked at Izzy. "What did you major in?" She asked curiously.

"Of course." Izzy was trying very hard not to dislike the teen. Her 'alternate self' that had occupied this body before she'd been dumped into it had been very much like her, though she had yet to determine whether Jessica was the complete airhead that 'Isabelle' had been. It wasn't fair to lump her into a stereotype, even if so far she was checking every box.

"What did I major in?" Izzy couldn't hold back the evil grin that spread across her face in anticipation of the reveal. "I double majored in Electrical Engineering and Theory of Magic, I'm a technomage."

Jessica tried not to look bored, this woman would get along better with her sister. College had broadened Jessica's world view, though, and she managed to smile. "That must have been a lot of fun. My sister's into learning things like that. She wants to be a journalist. Or a fiction writer. She's good too, I have to admit."

It was hard for Jessica to be anything but happy. She'd been through a lot already so far in college. She had been married and had her marriage annulled. Jessica didn't regret that, she had thought that Mike McAllery as the one for her. He just hadn't been. Jessica was always one of those girls who liked to date around. She hadn't been surprised that her marriage hadn't really worked out like it was supposed to. Jessica didn't think she really minded.

The beach had been supposed to yield her someone to date. Jessica just didn't know if that had been her main focus. Swimming and tanning would have been a good idea too. "So what have you been up to since you ended up on the island?"
