Her hand ghosted over her cheek but she just chuckled, “Oh he’s only little, can’t do much harm yet.” He did pack a bit of a wallop though and she smiled at the thought of inheriting it from Steve before she remembered the baby wasn’t theirs biologically. It didn’t matter though and she knew there was nothing she wouldn’t do to protect the baby. As she watched Steve’s eyes roam over the little boy and fill up with warmth and fear and a million emotions she couldn’t define, it made her want to hold him tight as he held the baby. “Know so.” She murmured and slid up to Steve’s side as he reached for her. He was like the baby in that way, too. Needing contact, skin to skin, to be soothed and loved and reassured. Her head balanced on his shoulder, she grinned warmly at the baby and tweaked his tiny nose. “What do you think his name is, Steve?”
