The tone was one of amusement, despite how self-depreciating the statement might have seemed. "That's impressive. You should have been on the Debate Team," he told him with a little wink.
He looked down for a second, coyly. Despite his joking, he realised what it meant. "Thank you," he said softly, reaching out and giving Sirius' arm a gentle squeeze. "Thank you for fighting for me," he told him, not jsut referring to that one instance, but all the times he'd had his back.
The moment of sincerity passed quickly with Sirius' next confession, though. "His granddaughter?!" he exclaimed, not even bothering to tone down his surprise. "What the bloody hell are you talking about?!
