Peggy nodded softly again. "You know that I believe you're stronger than you seem, Steve." she bit her cheek. "My first battle in the war, it... ended badly. I was shot, thankfully not fatally of course, but do you know I was so terrified that I cried? Field surgery was the worst physical pain I'd ever experienced." Her mind flashed to the scar on her stomach, "But I took that bullet in my gut to keep it from being a kill shot to a comrade. I'd do it all over again." she smiled, "What I'm trying to say is that you have the luxury of time and choice, Steve. If you can live without surgery, then don't have it but there's always the option for you to change your mind."
