She yelped, trying to bat his hands away as she laughed hard enough that tears streamed down her cheeks. "Stop stop stop," she laughed. Her heart soared, it had been so long for her that they had even had this. She hadn't seen him in months. And every moment they were apart like that broke her heart a little more.
She felt the air cool, and knew very well exactly what was happening. She stilled her laughter and met his pale eyes, smiling a little, softly, trying to help him calm himself. She should have been afraid, she supposed, but she wasn't. Thomas was stronger than the Hunger. He didn't always think he was, but she knew that he was. She knew it.
And again, she was right. His eyes darkened again to the ones she knew and loved so well.
When he settled against her, she carefully put her arms around him, her bare hands resting on his back. It was as intimate as they could be now, but it was enough for the moment, just to be together and to know she was loved, and loved him in return.
