When he lay his hand to the tree, she took two large steps forward, putting herself close behind him. There was, however, no threat in her actions. She simply looked down over him, at his hand listening to his words closely, determined this time not to miss them.
Hearing them helped little, though, and she pursed her lips.
"What do you do to the trees? You speak of waking them, but how is such a thing done? Trees cannot walk."
She put her hand against the tree herself, feeling the energies of life surging within it and smiled warmly.
"There is life all around us here. Not just in the trees. Of course the forest is alive. The trees, the grass, the birds, the flowers and animals, all of it is connected under Eywa."
With an easy motion, she was straddling a branch above him again, peering down at him with her large yellow eyes.
