"Yes," he said immediately, knowing there was no point in hedging, denying, or lying about it. "My mother will be heartbroken and will not understand. She does not mean to be so.. different, but she is. She behaves differently when my father is around and when he isn't. She doesn't see it.." he trailed into silence and pulled Elenwë up from his knees so he could touch his brow to her own and hold her gently in his arms.
"They have Fingon and that's all they need.. I was thinking.. that maybe it would be best to go to Rivendell. I know Elrond does not want us near him so much but even then.. it is only a place to rest. We never impose ourselves on anyone, Elenwë. Do you think he would turn us away?"
