He paused briefly, "and lastly I will not accept or tolerate retaliation against Turgon," for his ill prepared, weak attempt to slay a dragon. Fingolfin looked between the pair again and picked up where he ignored them moments before.
"If the need arises," he said, "I'm sure we will seek your aid, as the humans did us. As it stands, there is no need for anything but tolerance between us. That is what I offer, tolerance and peace, which is what you sought."
And the elves would be left alone at Vinyamar and Rivendell, and whosoever should have a problem with the dragons themselves might go to either of those sanctuaries and be blissfully free of them.
