For a minute, Elena had thought Katherine would rip her throat out. It would have been somewhat in keeping with what she knew of her doppelganger; spiteful and easy to anger.
And as she pulled back, Elena had been confused. She should have expected to be left with some kind of injury. Truly it could have been a lot worse. It didn't help at the time, as she struggled to breath. But it was something.
As Katherine let go, Elena hunched forward, coughing as her windpipe expanded once more, letting air flow freely. She looked up, resentfully, eyes narrowing at the wave. By the time she straightened fully, the distance between the two had increased drastically.
It was time to go home. To the relative safety of her apartment.
