Her mother is gone. Gyda can feel her absence keenly, could tell when she disappeared. It hurts, and she misses her terribly, but Gyda knows she must be strong. For herself and for Athelstan.
She is seated out in the bright warm sunshine when Athelstan joins her. She is eying the flowerbeds, wondering what kinds of flowers might grow there, if she might be permitted to plant and tend them as well. She also wonders if she might start a garden for food for winter, but she is pulled from her thoughts when her priest joins her. She looks to him with a happy smile, content with his company. "Not yet. I won't stay out for too long, I promise."
