Things on the island were confusing- very confusing. They had been there a matter of weeks, and the Doctor felt no closer to discovering the meaning behind any of it, or a way home again. Without the TARDIS, and without any sort of logical explanation, things were starting to become more frustrating than exciting. Everything just felt so slow. But he had Rose, Jack, and now even the Rani... that was certainly enough excitement to be dealing with.
Rose was right- they had a lot of catching up to do. About nine-hundred years worth of catching up, give or take a couple of decades. Of course, he had expected that eventually they would have to talk about the things that had happened while Rose had been trapped in her parallel universe, that was a given, but he had successfully avoided delving too much into his own past with his companions. Gallifrey was like a nightmare he wanted to forget. He was a traveler, the last of his kind, and it was easier to romanticise what Gallifrey had been and embrace the fantasy of it. And it was painful- he didn't like to talk about the painful parts. Not when they had the whole universe at their fingertips. But here- trapped with the Rani- he felt that he owed it to Rose to at least try and explain. Otherwise... well, he knew the Rani could be dangerous. Rose needed to know that. He needed to keep her safe.
So, in a very human gesture, he had made some tea, and tapped at her bedroom door with his foot, waiting for a response. Tea would help. It always helped.
